2015 HUNGARIAN GP PREVIEW

Image
The Hungarian Grand Prix (Hungarian: Magyar Nagydíj) is a motor race held annually in Hungary. Since 1986, the race has been a round of the FIA Formula One World Championship. The first Hungarian Grand Prix was held on June 21, 1936 over a 3.1-mile (5.0 km) track laid out in Népliget, a park in Budapest. The Mercedes-Benz, Auto Union, and the Alfa Romeo-equipped Ferrari teams all sent three cars and the event drew a very large crowd. However, politics and the ensuing war meant the end of Grand Prix motor racing in the country for fifty years. The  Hungaroring circuit  is 19 km from the centre of Budapest, alongside the M3 motorway at the border of the village, Mogyoród. The track is in a natural valley, surrounded by 50 hectares of rolling hillside. With this exceptional natural advantage, almost 80 percent of the racetrack is visible from any point. This is the reason why it is called "The Shallow Plate", it is because the spectators are watching races sitting by the s...

TEN BIGGEST SHOCKS OF 2014

Image
Article written by Andrew Davies of PlanetF1. Original article HERE . It may be the year of the Silver Arrows, but 2014 will also go down as The Year of Shocks in F1. Some of them were tragic, some of them were unexpected twists, but all stole headlines on the sports pages (and sometimes on the main news pages). We started the year with perhaps the saddest shock of all. Michael Schumacher's ski accident Michael's battle with a head injury from a Christmas skiing trip began in the last days of 2013, with the world's press camped outside a hospital in Grenoble well into the New Year. Michael survived and has begun the long, slow struggle back to functionality. What Corinne Schumacher and his long-time press secretary Sabine Kehm also have to fight, apart from health issues, is the ongoing battle to keep his recovery and his recuperation private. If one good thing can come out of the accident it's that all skiiers need ski helmets, because if someone as seemingly in...

JAPANESE GP: WINNERS AND LOSERS

Image
An interesting race with the heavy weather. Lewis overtake and domination of Rosberg was the highlight for me. Although the Bianchi accident overshadowed everything after everybody realised how serious it was. I just saw a fan video of the crash and it is VERY serious. The car rammed the tractor straight on, no doubt about the seriousness of the head injury. Here is the winners vs losers piece by Andrew Davies of PlanetF1. Original article HERE . It was a troubled end to a memorable Grand Prix weekend. With the arrival of the new guard and the changing of the old... Star of the Race Jenson Button, McLaren, 5th If ever McLaren needed a stark reminder of the benefits of an experienced driver, then they had it from Jenson Button on Sunday. His audacious early move to Inters had all the hallmarks of the Hungarian GP fiasco, where the McLaren team got the weather prediction badly wrong and threw away a handful of points. Was it going to pay off? Yes. Because this time it was Jenso...
