INTERESTING STORIES #1

Image
First off, to all readers of this blog I must apologise as I have not been posting as much as I normally do lately. In fact, I did not post a review of the last 2 races in Monaco and Montreal. Monaco was boring and I missed Montreal due to the time and my work. Plus there was nothing much to write about Montreal as Vettel won from lights to flag without much trouble from other drivers, accept he himself threw himself on the wall and slid around here and there. Yawn....excuse me. So, I'm now going to try something new. I'm going to start a new series of posts which collects interesting stories from around the web. It's a bunch of stories I read, have an opinion about and want to share. So this is the first in the series. Hopefully it will be regular and be useful to most of you who might not read it or missed it or want to find it again. My comments (if any) will be in blue. THAILAND F1?

Image
I have written before about Thailand being interested to host an F1 race here . It was to be a street race in the heart of Bangkok. I didn't give it much thought at the time as the announcement was made suddenly and the Thai authorities did sound too confident about it. As we all know, things change very quickly in F1 and deals can be made upside down. So, it was not really a groundbreaking news at the time. Now after being so quiet for so long they've burst on the scene again and this time they even have an approved track layout and they're saying it will be a night race. This looks like a stronger case for the race but as we know in F1, anything is possible. Plus we also know that at the moment the calendar is quite full with so many other countries lining to pay Bernie his money. So, I'm not quite sure who will get the chop to make way for Thailand. Although I have a bad feeling it will be Malaysia. Singapore has only been on the scene for a few short years b...

THAILAND F1 RACE

Image
It seems that everybody wants to get on the F1 race bandwagon and now Thailand has announced that they want it too. But the announcement came abruptly I must say without any warning as usually there would be talks or some sort of activity that would be going on for some time before an announcement of this sort is made. I say "of this sort" because this announcement sounded very confident. It's as if it has already been confirmed behind closed doors. According to Kanokphand Chulakasem, Ratchadamnoen Avenue in Bangkok, which was first mooted as an ideal location for motor racing by Prince Bira (Prince Birabongse Bhanudej Bhanubandh), back in 1939, and Muang Thong Thani, home to Impact , a complex frequently used as the venue for exhibitions and entertainment events, are both under consideration. Prince Bira was the only Thai racecar driver to race in Formula One. He raced for the Maserati, Gordini, and Connaught teams, among others. "A contract is likely to ...
