LEWIS HAMILTON RAGES AT FIA AFTER BRAZILIAN GP PENALTY CHAOS
It was another fiery and frustrating Formula 1 weekend for Lewis at the 2025 Brazilian Grand Prix. Still reeling from his penalty in Mexico, Lewis found himself once again clashing with the FIA stewards — and this time, the frustration boiled over.
A Weekend To Forget For Lewis And Ferrari
From the very start, the weekend in São Paulo had the makings of trouble for Lewis and Ferrari. Starting 13th on the grid, his race was compromised almost immediately. A rough opening lap saw him tangled up in the midfield, dropping to 17th after contact with Williams’ Carlos Sainz. It was a far cry from the competitive pace Lewis had been hoping for, and things only went downhill from there.
As he fought to recover, Lewis went wheel-to-wheel with Alpine’s Franco Colapinto down the main straight. In the heat of battle, their cars made contact — a moment that would later define Lewis’s race. The light touch was enough to dislodge the front wing of his Ferrari, damaging the car’s floor and completely upsetting the SF-25’s aerodynamics. Moments later, Ferrari confirmed what fans feared — Lewis’s race was over. He was told to bring the car into the pit lane and retire.
To make matters worse, the FIA issued Lewis a five-second penalty for causing the collision, a decision that left the seven-time world champion absolutely furious.
“These Guys Are A Complete Joke”
Lewis’s response was pure emotion — the raw frustration of a champion who feels targeted. Over team radio, he didn’t hold back: “These guys are a joke. A complete joke.”
From his point of view, the collision wasn’t his fault. “He moved over on me,” Lewis said, defending his position. “I clipped my wing.” But once again, the FIA stewards didn’t agree.
It’s now the second consecutive race weekend where Lewis has publicly expressed anger toward Formula 1’s governing body. Just one week earlier in Mexico, he was hit with a 10-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage against Max Verstappen — a verdict that he said left him “let down” by the FIA.
The back-to-back controversies have reignited debate among fans about whether Lewis is being unfairly scrutinized in his debut season with Ferrari.
Damage That Ended His Race
After the clash with Colapinto, Lewis immediately felt something was wrong. “After the hit, it felt like the rear suspension was broken,” he told F1’s official website. “But they said that it seemed to be alright. And then the loss of downforce — I think we were losing 30 or 40 points of downforce. When you were going through the high speed, the thing was snapping.”
Even with a wounded car, Lewis tried to stay in the fight, pushing the SF-25 as hard as he could. But the aerodynamic imbalance made the Ferrari nearly impossible to control. “I was giving it everything to try to keep up with the guys ahead of me, and I had no chance,” he admitted.
His DNF in Brazil marked only the second time this season that Lewis failed to finish a race — a blow to his and Ferrari’s morale as they continue to chase a first win together.
A Champion’s Heart, A Team’s Struggle
Despite the setback, Lewis’s response after the race showed his trademark humility and determination. “This is definitely a weekend to forget,” he said. “It’s a shame, because I love Brazil, and also just everyone in the team — every single person gives their absolute best every week. To come away with nothing, to not finish a race for the second time this year, it’s really devastating.”
He added, “I feel terrible for the team. I’m sorry for my part in qualifying, putting myself in that position. We’ll get back up tomorrow and just give it another go.”
It’s clear that even through frustration, Lewis remains committed to Ferrari’s long-term goals. His words reflect both accountability and leadership — traits that have defined his career from the very beginning.
Frustration With The FIA Growing
Lewis’s repeated clashes with the FIA stewards are becoming a storyline of their own in 2025. Many F1 fans believe the penalties have been inconsistent, especially considering similar incidents involving other drivers that went unpunished.
Lewis’s honesty and refusal to sugarcoat his frustrations have always set him apart. Whether it’s with Mercedes or Ferrari, he’s never been afraid to challenge authority — particularly when he feels the rules are being applied unfairly.
And in truth, his fiery radio messages remind everyone of what makes him so compelling: the sheer passion to win, even when the odds are stacked against him.
Eyes On Redemption
The Brazilian Grand Prix may have been a low point, but for Lewis, redemption is never far away. The upcoming rounds offer him a chance to reset and focus on helping Ferrari finish the season strong — and to build momentum heading into 2026, when the new F1 regulations arrive.
With Ferrari still searching for their first win of the 2025 season, the frustration is understandable. But if there’s one driver who knows how to turn adversity into inspiration, it’s Lewis.
Every great champion has moments like this — when it feels like the world is against you. Yet it’s in those very moments that true greatness shines through. Lewis’s fire is far from fading. He’s still fighting, still pushing, and still carrying the weight of Ferrari’s dreams on his shoulders.
Final Thoughts
Personally, the FIA have always been shooting themselves in the foot since I started watching F1 in the early 90s. And the worst part is they then blame others instead of themselves. And with Lewis, they have always been on his case since 2007 with mind boggling decisions (Abu Dhabi 2021 anyone?).
In the end, the Brazilian Grand Prix will be remembered as another chapter in Lewis’s battle against both the elements and the FIA. But one thing is certain — Lewis won’t stop. His determination to bring Ferrari back to the top burns as fiercely as ever.
And if Formula 1 history has taught us anything, it’s that you can never count Lewis out.
