ELIMINATION QUALIFYING BOGGLE - UPDATED

Image
Have you ever heard of the term "Gobledygook"? It's a term I learnt a long time ago when I was much younger. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, the short definition is "speech or writing that is complicated and difficult to understand." The full definition is "wordy and generally unintelligible jargon". Wikipedia groups gobledygook together with gibberish: Gibberish and gobbledygook refer to speech or other use of language that is nonsense, or that appears to be nonsense. Lately the F1 rules by the FIA seems to be nonsense, isn't it? Especially with qualifying. The new rules on qualifying has been bent over so much that I have trouble figuring out what is going on. And that was last year. I finally got around to it and now they've twisted it even more. Then they said they won't have it by Melbourne but will start at Spain as Bernie Ecclestone claimed the relevant software and broadcast graphics would not be ready in time. No...

GUEST POST - DON'T TELL THE KIDS!

Image
The season is over and it's been weeks without a race. The end of the year is coming up again and the streets will be a madhouse on the eve. I'm staying home as I always do. Just can't stomach the madness. It's gonna a long drag to the season opener in March. News is thin on the ground these days, nothing much to read during my breakfast. So thanks to Joshua Mason, we're getting a guest post today on his take on the BBC and F1 divorce. DON’T TELL THE KIDS!: BBC AND FORMULA 1 ARE GETTING A DIVORCE The kids are crying, there is arguing in the kitchen and the solicitors are rubbing their hands in glee, yes it is that old British tradition, divorce! The two parties involved are the BBC and Formula 1. A sporting marriage longer than most, (apart from a small break in the noughties) is coming to an end and this time it seems to be for good. The news that BBC had cancelled the remainder of its contract came fast, and so did the news that Formula 1 had already...

RED BULL INTERACTIVE 360 DEGREE CAR

Image
This is something fantastic. Imagine being able to rotate the FOM camera on top of an F1 car (on top of the roll hoop) 360 degrees while the car is being driven. Not just 360 degrees in one axle, but maybe about 20 or 30 axles. It is mind bending and can cause a bit of a headache. But seriously fun and gives another perspective to an F1 car. F1Fanatic has the exclusive right to show the video so you won't find it on Youtube. To have a look at it, click here .

SEPANG CIRCUIT WANTS TO REDUCE FEES

Image
So Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia wants to reduce its yearly hosting fees? Asking Bernie to take less? Good luck! It's not impossible though as Singapore has done it. But seriously Malaysia has only until 2015, after that we don't know if we will have the race or not. Here is an article about this issue, reproduced from The Malaysian Reserve. Sepang International Circuit Sdn Bhd (SIC) will seek for a reduction in the payment to host the Formula One (F1) race which first came to Malaysia in 1999, following a similar successful move by its Singapore counterpart. SIC, a Malaysian motorsport race track organisation, will commence the discussion with F1 exclusive rights holder Formula One Management Ltd (FOM) “at an appropriate time’’ before the current contract expires in 2015, an SIC official told The Malaysian Reserve. The race track company plans to negotiate for a “similar or a better deal’’ than Singapore which is expecting its F1 event to cost less to host in t...
